The timber is mostly 6+ year old naturally regenerated loblolly pine and mixed hardwoods. Some areas contain well stocked pure stands of loblolly pine that could be managed for timber production. Other areas contain mixed hardwoods could be left to grow as is or converted to pine plantations. Mature timber is found along the river frontage and in some of the wet areas.

From the Raleigh Area: Take Interstate 40 East to Exit # 373. Turn left on Highway 24 and go about 5 miles to the intersection with Highway 50. Turn right on Highway 50, go 5.8 miles and turn left on Hallsville Road (SR 1961). Go 3.7 miles and turn right on Salmon Road (private, dirt). The property begins at the gate. The gate is locked.
