Description

This large and rare farm along scenic Fishing Creek in Halifax County, North Carolina is a sportsman's paradise. With almost three miles of frontage along Fishing Creek, this property offers the sportsman and outdoor enthusiast an outstanding hunting (deer, turkey, ducks) and recreational experience. Fishing Creek is an ecologically significant tributary to the Tar River and contains rare species of mussels and fish. The property contains a large amount of mature pine and hardwood timber (including valuable cherrybark oak), 115± acres of leased farm fields, some flooded land for duck hunting, generous paved-road frontage and is located only 3.5 miles from Interstate 95. Rocky Mount is about 10 minutes South, and Raleigh is about 1 hour away. Roanoke Rapids is about 15 minutes North.

The property contains miles of trials and roads throughout the wooded bottomland along Fishing Creek. A rustic cabin (with electricity) overlooks the creek. A power line and gas line cross the southern portion of the property. These right-of-ways can be used for access through the property, hunting stands and food plots. There are two small ponds near the northern end of the property.

Located on the Fall Line, the topography is a mixture of slightly rolling fields and bottomland along Fishing Creek. Most of the creek frontage is a high bank, and there are several areas with unique rock outcrops and boulders. The creek is ideal for canoeing and fishing. The bulk of the woodland is within the 100 year flood zone.

The property produces a yearly income through farm rent and a hunting lease. It is likely that the new owner could sell and/or donate a conservation easement along Fishing Creek.
